Bandhani is derived from the Sanskrit word Banda which means to tie. The art of Bandhani is a highly skilled process that involves dyeing a fabric, which has been hand tied tightly with a thread at several points to, thus producing a variety of patterns. The process is extremely slow.

Dry crocking (the transfer of dye onto other fabrics and surfaces when dry) may occur. Refrain from pairing this clothing item with light colors until any remaining color has been eliminated, as there might be some color transfer.
