The clear septum retainer is hand blown by Glasswear Studios. The 14g is made from fused quartz glass, and 12g is made from borosilicate glass. The 5/16″ wearable area is a fairly average size that would fit most people. Gauge tolerance is +-0.1 millimeter. Please note these are glass and can break if forced to bend. We recommend cutting the heat sealed bag with scissors and not tearing it open. The plastic stretches easily and may put stress on smaller glass items.
